Is setting a date for the release of the next MacBook Air overly ambitious? Perhaps, but I think we can safely assume that Apple will be making some product announcements within the next five years. With that in mind, it’s probably worth planning ahead. Here are my predictions for what’s in store for the new MacBook Air sometime in mid-2022.
Apple’s MacBook Airs have been Apple’s first laptop to get an update in the past three years. And in that time, they’ve been the most well-received laptops in Apple’s product lineup. So, what’s in store for the new MacBook Air in Mid-2022?
Apple’s new MacBook Air is rumored to be unveiled during Apple’s “Spring Forward” event on a Tuesday in late March, which usually happens in early March. The low-cost laptop is expected to be thinner than last year’s model, while it will also include Touch ID. The MacBook Air is the thinnest and lightest MacBook at just 7mm thick and 1.76 pounds. It also has the smallest bezels of any Apple laptop, with 13 percent less screen area compared to the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Ming Chi Kuo, a well-connected analyst with insider knowledge of Apple products, has predicted that a new MacBook Air would be released in mid-2022. According to reports, this MacBook will come in a number of colors. These hues are said to go well with the iMac 2021, which comes in green, yellow, orange, purple, blue, pink, and silver.
The MacBook Air was ready for an upgrade after it was last upgraded in November 2020 with the inclusion of the M1 processor.

The MacBook Air currently features standard LED lighting. However, with the new tiny LED screens coming to the MacBook, Kuo tells us that improvements are on the way.
Thousands of very tiny LEDs are used in these micro LED displays, resulting in a greater contrast ratio. Because the backlighting is more focused and accurate, the pictures are brighter, clearer, and more vivid. The M1-powered 12.9-inch iPad Pro was the first Apple device to successfully test this new lighting.
With these small LEDS, there was previously a supply problem. (Mini LEDS have a width of 0.2mm.) The mini-LEDs for the next MacBook Air are being supplied by a Chinese company called BOE, according to Kuo. Other firms, including as LG, Sharp, and Foxconn Subsidiary GIS, will also provide Mini LEDS for the future Pro versions.
Despite the new high-tech screen, we don’t anticipate the MacBook Air’s screen size to alter. While there has been rumors that Apple might utilize a 14-inch display for the next MacBook, Kuo claims that the MacBook Air would have the 13.3-inch screen.
The MacBook Air will be launched in mid-2022, according to the Kuo speculation. This may indicate that, like the iMac 2021, they plan to unveil it in April.
However, it’s possible that they’ll reveal the new MacBook during the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) in June, which coincides with the release of iOS 15 this year.
According to the rumor, the next MacBook will include an improved Apple Silicon chip. Apple announced on June 22nd that they would be switching Macs to Apple Silicon. For those who are unaware, Apple silicon is a semiconductor that will eventually replace the Intel processors that they previously utilized.
Apple silicon processors are as fast as, if not quicker than, Intel CPUs, and they provide much longer battery life in laptops and reduced power consumption in desktops.
The new MacBook Air is expected to have greater energy efficiency and even longer battery life than the Portable Mac due to the use of Silicon processors.
The last mac they built using a silicon chip had a battery life of 17 hours. We can only anticipate this figure to grow as Apple improves the silicon chip production and energy efficiency of its MacBooks.
Following Kuo’s announcement that the MacBook Air will be redesigned, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman speculated that the next model would have a smaller, lighter chassis with flatter top and bottom corners.
The Mag-safe branded magnetic power cord, as well as the new and enhanced USB 4 ports, seem to be returning.
It’s unclear if the introduction of the New MacBook Air will signal the end of the M1 MacBook Air. If the M1 is discontinued, according to Ming Chi Kuo, the pricing will start at $999. He does predict, though, that if the M1 is not canceled, it will be favored with a price reduction.
Overall, the new MacBook comes with a slew of additional features. This new model seems to be quicker, lighter, and clearer, thanks to its sleek new design and a choice of colors to appeal to a broader range of consumers.
This model is a step forward from its predecessor thanks to the improved silicon chip and Mini LED lights, and we’re excited to see how it performs.
Apple’s MacBook Air line has a new model, dated to get a major update by 2022. However, sales of the Air have dwindled, and the new models could go on sale for as long as 2015. This is a result of several factors, including the rise of Windows 10, the more closely-matched MacBook Pro, and the release of the iPad Pro..
