The Green Bay Packers were a big winner in the NFL draft, but they lost cornerback Chandon Sullivan to the Minnesota Vikings. What does this mean for their secondary?

The “packers returning players” is a topic that has been going on for a while. The Green Bay Packers have lost CB Chandon Sullivan to the Vikings in free agency.

In the last three days, the Green Bay Packers have seen two of their former defensive starters sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP, the Vikings signed former Packers slot cornerback Chandon Sullivan to a one-year deal on Friday, March 25. The agreement’s wage amounts were not immediately accessible. The purchase was completed fast since Sullivan was in Minneapolis for an initial visit the same day.

In 2018, the defensive back began his career with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent. The next year, he joined the Packers and played the next three seasons in Green Bay. While on the Packers’ roster, Sullivan participated in all 49 regular-season games, starting 20 of them (10 each in 2020 and 2021).

Sullivan has 109 tackles, two tackles for loss, 16 pass defenses, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and one defensive touchdown in his four-year career.

Sullivan’s major loss will be the Vikings’ enormous gain, according to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated, who is far from a household name.

It’s no surprise that Chandon Sullivan left the #Packers in free agency. But… 1. He was superior to what you believe. 2. Behind the starting three, there is no proven depth. https://t.co/mDJKoOfnXX

Huber tweeted, “It’s no surprise the #Packers lost Chandon Sullivan in free agency.” “However… 1) He was much superior than what you believe. 2) Behind the starting three, there is no proven depth.”

After a season-ending shoulder injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, the Packers hope Jaire Alexander to return healthy in 2022. Following a great season in 2021, Green Bay signed cornerback Rasul Douglas to a three-year contract. After defending 14 passes and making one interception last season, second-year player and former first-round choice Eric Stokes will be the third starting CB.

Getty On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, the Vikings signed former Green Bay Packers pass rusher Za’Darius Smith.

Sullivan isn’t the first or only former member of the Packers’ defense to be signed by the Vikings this week.

On Tuesday, Minnesota also signed pass rusher Za’Darius Smith for $42 million over three years. Smith was Sullivan’s teammate in Green Bay for the past three seasons, where the outside linebacker was named to the Pro Bowl in both 2019 and 2020.

Smith has 60 quarterback hits, 26 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, and five forced fumbles in his first two years with the Green Bay Packers. Smith was out for the most of 2021 due to a back ailment that necessitated surgery, but he returned in time for the Packers’ Divisional Round Playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers, when he got a sack.

After joining the Vikings, Smith issues a warning to the Packers and the NFC North.

In the Vikings’ new 3-4 scheme, Smith will team up with fellow two-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter, and the combo is projected to be one of the most formidable pass rushing tandems in the NFL if both stay healthy. Hunter finished second in the league in QB pressures with 88, behind only Smith’s 93, according to Pro Football Focus, when both were Pro Bowlers in 2019.

Smith put his former club and the rest of the NFC North Division on notice at his introductory news conference in Minnesota on Tuesday.

“It’ll be a lot of fun.” “I told Danielle Hunter I was coming here and signed yesterday, and he was like, ‘Okay, now we can be one of the top duos in the league,’” Smith recalled. “A lot of quarterbacks will have to be afraid of us….” The [NFC] North is our primary goal.”

In 2022, Sullivan will play behind the two pass rushers and assist them in that effort, according to news that provoked a Twitter comment from Smith on Friday.

It seems that no words were required.
