The NBA All-Star game is a spectacle that has been enjoyed for over 75 years. It’s where the best players in the league get to play with each other, and some of them even get to showcase their skills on an international stage (such as when American basketball player Sharone Wright took home a gold medal playing alongside Kobe Bryant). The presence of these superstars leads many fans to tune in at tv’s biggest night, but one player who doesn’t deserve this honor is Klay Thompson.

Klay Thompson made a dramatic comeback this season, but is still not enough to earn him an All-Star trip. Many fans are frustrated with the NBA’s decision and feel like he deserves it because of his overall impact on the game. This has led some people to start campaigns asking for Klay’s spot back in order to give deserving players a chance at getting selected too, while others think that giving Klay a ticket would be punishing other worthy candidates who deserve their own spots

“Klay Thompson Doesn’t Deserve a Trip to the All-Star Game, No Matter How Impressive His Comeback Seems” is an article about how Klay Thompson’s recent performance does not merit him being selected for the NBA All-Star game. The author of this article believes that even though he has played well lately, it is not enough to warrant his selection.

Klay Thompson Doesn't Deserve a Trip to the All-Star Game, No Matter How Impressive His Comeback Seems

On and off the court, Klay Thompson is a fighter. He’s come back from two catastrophic injuries, and his presence elevates the Golden State Warriors to real NBA championship contenders.

Let’s get one thing out of the way first. Thompson was a member of the NBA’s All-Star team in the past. He might also be one in the future. He has no business going to Cleveland this year.

Klay Thompson is making a strong comeback after a long layoff.

The wait is finally over. After missing the past two full seasons, Warriors supporters and NBA fans alike anxiously anticipated the return of the sharpshooting Thompson. Thompson tore his ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and missed back-to-back seasons. After suffering an Achilles injury just before the season, he missed the 2020-2021 season.

Thompson and Stephen Curry have won three NBA titles together and are perhaps the finest shooting tandem in the league’s history. The Warriors are anticipated to be a playoff contender now that Thompson has returned to action after almost 2.5 years away.

Thompson has only played eight games this season and is still finding his stride. In 22.6 minutes, he’s averaging 15.8 points. During the Warriors’ 124-115 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night, he provided fans a peek of what the Warriors’ backcourt may look like.

Curry and Thompson combined for 52 points and 11-for-19 shooting from beyond the arc, bringing back memories of the Splash Brothers days.

According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said, “It’s a pretty good indication of what our team can look like with Klay returning and everybody healthy, for the most part, in terms of our shooters.” “With the space that we’ve had and the ball movement that we’ve had these past couple of games, we’ve gotten terrific looks.”

Klay Thompson does not belong on the All-Star squad.

The NBA All-Star Game starters have been revealed, and Thompson isn’t among them. Fans, NBA players, and a panel of media representatives chose the starting. Fans accounted for half of the votes, with the other two categories each contributing 25%.

It may have gone a different way if the fans had exclusive control over the vote. According to NBA Communications, Thompson placed fourth overall in the election when just fan votes were included. Thompson finished in fourth place among Western Conference guards with 1,710,437 fan votes. Curry, Ja Morant, and Luka Doncic were the only ones who earned more adoration.

When the NBA decided not to give the fans complete voting power, they got it right. Thompson garnered just nine votes from his teammates. He received no votes from members of the media.

Thompson is a fine player, but eight games isn’t enough to make the All-Star team. Yes, many of these All-Star events are popularity contests, but allowing the media and players to vote adds realism to the process.

Thompson has been in five All-Star games. If he stays healthy, he’ll continue to make appearances.

Thompson’s best chance is to focus on strengthening and maintaining his health.

For the game on February 20 at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, just the All-Star starters have been named. The reserves will be revealed on February 3rd. The reserves will be decided by the NBA coaches.

Thompson shouldn’t be thinking All-Star right now, and he probably isn’t. He’s worked hard to get back into playing condition and is progressively returning to his previous form.

Curry and Thompson will need time to regain the rhythm they had together a few years ago, when Finals appearances were the norm. The Wolves’ success on Thursday was a foreshadowing of things to come.

When Thompson returned, he anticipated quick results. He’s now aware that it’ll take some time, and that his only concentration should be on regaining his former self.

“I expected us to perform like this in our first game back.” “Perhaps I was a bit naïve,” Thompson said after the game on Thursday. “Every night, it’s going to become better.” It’ll be much scarier when our whole team returns.”
