Andrew Garfield Reveals What Would Make Him Return

Andrew-Garfield-Reveals-What-Would-Make-Him-Return

Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man was a fantastic addition to Spider-Man: No Way Home, and now fans are asking whether the character has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who slipped into Spider-Man: No Way Home with Tobey Maguire on opening weekend, talked with the Happy Sad Confused podcast this week about the fallout from everyone discovering he was joking all along. Along the way, he discussed what made his experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so memorable, as well as whether or not he would return to the Spider-Verse.

During the interview, he was asked whether he would consider reprising his role as Peter Parker and what would push him to do so.

Garfield told the Happy Sad Confused podcast, “That love has touched me, and the happiness of people in cinemas has reached me.” “It’s incredibly emotional, and I find it very affecting, since it petered out as we began my second Spider-Man picture. There was a sense of disconnection there. Coming back and really having some more time to have fun with it, and to give the character some closure, and to play and be the version of Spider-Man that I’d always wanted to play, and to be with Tobey and Tom and the rest of the cast, that was therapeutic for me. It was just an incredible full-circle moment, and of course you have this other element, where it’s breaking records in terms of people wanting to see it, and you have this incredible critical response, and you have being a part of Tom’s origin story, and I was torn open by Tom’s storyline, by Tom being isolated at the end away from his love and away from his best friend, and I was torn open by Tom’s storyline, by Tom being isolated at the end away from his It gives me goosebumps still, and it shattered my heart when I first watched it. It was excruciating, and the way he portrays it, and the way the three of them have built this love relationship, and to have it shattered, it’s…the sorrow of it is visceral and deep and genuine despite these very light, John Hughes-y pictures. With Zendaya and Jacob, Jon Watts and Tom have produced something meaningful and stunning that is also an extraordinarily successful popcorn entertainment flick. All of these things start to seem like icing on top of icing on top of icing on top of icing on top of icing on top of icing on top of icing on top of icing And I’m so fortunate to have a bond with Tobey now that I didn’t have before, to have a mentor in him, to have a true brotherhood with him, and Tom is simply wonderful. And then there’s the other thing you said, where you feel recognized, acknowledged, embraced, and like you’re a part of a character you’ve always wanted to be a part of. To be honest, it has humbled me much. I’m quite moved by it, and I owe a lot of it to Amy Pascal and Kevin for welcoming me back into the fold and given me another chance, as well as audiences for their kindness, and I’m very humbled. All I want to do is be a part of stories that change people’s lives, so having that mirrored back and people saying that’s what’s going on gives me all the gratification I need. Yes, I am very open to pushing further with the character, but it would have to be something extremely unique, very special, and of service to an audience, as well as the character. There’s something fun, original, strange, and surprising to be done, in my opinion. I’m not sure what it is, but it would be a lot of fun if we could find it out…. In addition, I’d want to continue working with Tobey and Tom. That three-brother relationship is quite intriguing. But, to be honest, it’s hard for me to desire more right now since I’m so happy, pleased, and glad to be a part of it. I’m trying to relish this moment with the fans and the crowd and express my gratitude. The feedback has humbled and thanked me much.”

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) faces battle against villains from the history of the series, but not ones he has encountered before. Instead, he faces up against the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe, Spider-Man), Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina, Spider-Man 2), Electro (Jamie Foxx, The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and other villains.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Loki, and What If…?, Marvel’s universe seems to be more open than ever before, and fans were anticipating to see Garfield’s Spider-Man, as well as Tobey Maguire’s, share the screen alongside Holland even before it was officially announced. There’s no a more sensible character for Marvel to begin exploring its infinite Earths with than Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was a financial triumph.

With Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, and Benedict Cumberbatch, the film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Spider-Man: No Way Home, a collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios, is out in cinemas.
